Tweedsmuir Park Lodge

The lodge is set at Stuie, a small settlement on the Atnarko River in British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest, with the Coast Mountains rising close behind. Guests stay in timber-frame chalets, bungalows near the river, or elevated suites above the lawn, each with a private deck, fireplace, and mountain view. The suites carry vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Atnarko below. Access runs through Bella Coola, reached by air or ferry, with the lodge itself unreachable by road from most of the province. Days are shaped around one full guided outing, or two shorter ones: rafting the glacier-fed river for grizzly bears during the fall salmon run, hiking the Rainbow Range above the treeline, or walking to petroglyphs with a Nuxalk guide. A via ferrata route climbs ledges and metal rungs to a lookout over the valley. Certified wilderness guides, some accredited through the Commercial Bear Viewing Association, lead every trip out. Meals draw on valley farms and nearby waters, served with BC wine and craft beer, often on the lodge deck. Binoculars, rain gear, and climbing harnesses are supplied at no extra charge. It is a working base for wilderness rather than a resort, built for people who want the rainforest close at hand and the guiding done properly.
