Veranda Paul et Virginie Hotel & Spa
Part of Phasec create
Veranda Paul et Virginie is an adults-only hotel set in Grand Gaube, a fishing village on Mauritius's north-east coast, with the lagoon and the chain of northern islets — Coin de Mire, Île Plate, Île Ronde, and Île Serpent — directly in front. It takes only couples, so the pool, the bar, and the beach stay quiet by design.
Rooms come in three sizes: Comfort rooms at thirty-two square metres with light-wood interiors and a balcony or terrace; Superior rooms at thirty-eight square metres with an ocean view; and Privilege rooms at forty-two square metres with a patio or balcony and a broader ocean outlook. Every room faces the sea.
The main restaurant, Isle de France, seats a hundred and forty and serves Mauritian and international dishes as a buffet and table d'hôte. Le Saint Géran, a thatched room at the end of a pier over the water, seats thirty-six and serves seafood and à la carte dishes. On Monday evenings, the main kitchen opens for guests to watch the dishes being prepared.
Included activities cover two pools, kayaks, stand-up paddle, windsurfing, pedal boats, a glass-bottom boat, sailing dinghies, snorkelling, and aquagym. Fifteen kilometres of signed bicycle routes run through the surrounding villages. The Seven Colours Spa uses Mauritian essential oils alongside traditional techniques. A pirogue excursion on the lagoon, diving, fishing, and catamaran trips to Bernaches Islet are available at extra cost.
The hotel also arranges weddings on the beach or pier, with civil ceremony coordination available through the property.
