Vergenoegd Guesthouse
Panorama, a residential suburb inland from Cape Town's beaches, is where Vergenoegd has built its stay around two houses standing side by side: one Cape Dutch, one face brick. Between them the property counts seven rooms, including a Bachelor Flat with its own patio and braai, and a duplex flat with the bedroom set up a short flight of stairs. Most rooms are en suite. One, the Table Mountain room, has its own private bathroom across the corridor instead. Each room comes with a fridge, microwave and kettle for basic self-catering, and the flats add a hotplate for proper cooking. Air conditioning and free Wi-Fi are standard throughout. Solar panels and inverters keep the property largely free of load-shedding disruption, a detail that matters more here than any sea view. A pool opens through the summer months, from mid-November to the start of March, and the garden gives guests somewhere to sit out with a coffee between visits into the city. Secure parking covers both houses. It is a compact stay, closer to a medical clinic than a beach, but restaurants, takeaways and shopping centres sit within a few kilometres' drive, and Cape Town's coastline is a short trip from the door.
