Villa Paola
Framed by the old stone of a fifteenth-century convent, Villa Paola looks down over Tropea's marina and the stretch of coast known as the Coast of the Gods. The villa keeps its air-conditioned rooms across four categories: Deluxe, Executive, Junior Suite, and Prestige. Breakfast is set out each morning on a terrace with a clear run over the water. Guests can also cool off in an infinity pool, work out in a small gym, or unwind in a steam bath, all built into the grounds. The restaurant, De' Minimi, has drawn notice from Michelin, Gambero Rosso, and Identità Golose, and draws much of its produce from the villa's own gardens a short walk from the kitchen. Down at the shore, the sea invites sailing and snorkelling, and the beaches around Tropea are an easy trip from the door. A seafront wellness space offers treatments drawn from the region's own materials. Terraces and a cloistered garden double as venues for weddings and events, holding up to 90 guests across spaces that include a belvedere terrace and a library room. It is an adults-only stay, and pets are not permitted. Check-in and the general run of the day follow a quiet, unhurried pace, in keeping with a house built first as a place of retreat.
