Wagenkull Castle Spa

Guests arrive at Wagenkull through Taagepera's old estate grounds, where a castle, a park house and a separate manor hold 75 rooms between them. The castle and park house are linked by a tunnel that runs straight into the spa and sauna centre below ground; the manor stands apart, with its own period rooms and modern comforts. Rooms in the park house look out over the lake, the park or a quiet courtyard, while suites in the castle run larger, some with four-poster beds and retro tubs. It is a working spa as much as a hotel. Five saunas cover a wide range of heat and humidity, from a 95°C smoke sauna built from real timber to a low, gentle amber sauna kept under 55°C. A heated outdoor pool holds steady at 35°C through winter, and a cold-water plunge sits between the Japanese bath and the smoke sauna for contrast. The centre takes up to 150 bathers at a time. Meals are served in three separate rooms, including a fireside hall with art nouveau cabinets and a grander space leading out to the castle garden. All rooms include a bathrobe, slippers and minibar, and breakfast is included with the stay.
