WGH Tall Trees

WGH Tall Trees is a forest resort on 66 acres above Munnar, in Kerala's Kannan Devan Hills. Twenty-six cottages stand among more than a hundred trees, each with a private balcony facing the canopy. The Western Ghats rise between 1,450 and 2,700 metres here, and the resort's own cardamom and coffee grow under organic management within the grounds. Cottage categories run from the single-bedroom Cinnamon Cottage to the two-bedroom Mint Villa, each fitted with a dehumidifier against the hill damp and a king-size bed. You can hear birdsong from the balcony most mornings. Hill Spice restaurant occupies a glass-roofed hall with an entrance styled on old Kerala courtyard architecture, serving Kerala, South Indian, North Indian and continental dishes. Cafe Elaichi, a rooftop huddle of open-sided huts set just above it, adds a barbecue option under the trees. A self-guided trail crosses the shola forest inside the property, past streams and a hillock, with sightings of endemic butterflies and birds along the way. The Tree of Life spa offers classical Ayurvedic treatments, including pizhichil, njavarakizhi and dhara, under trained physicians. It is a quiet, working stretch of hillside. Guided cycling routes run out through Munnar's tea plantations, and nature walks are led by resort guides through the surrounding cardamom stands and forest.
