Set within a private wildlife sanctuary above the Mazowe Valley, Wild Geese Lodge occupies thirty acres of indigenous garden and open savannah, fifteen minutes from central Harare. Antelope, sable and zebra move freely across the grounds, and eland graze within sight of the rooms. It suits wildlife photographers and birders equally. Nine rooms make up the lodge, including one executive suite, each finished in an urban-safari style that mixes local craft with plain comfort.
Beyond the rooms, the property runs several venues built for weddings and functions, each pitched at a different view of the valley. Royal Musasa, a hall of 30 by 13 metres, opens through full-height glass onto a lawned garden of over 1,600 m² that runs down toward open savannah. The Pavilion uses gum-pole beams and whitewashed pine, with a bar set under an open-sided pergola for drinks before dinner. Acacia is smaller, at 120 m², with an adjoining terrace for overflow seating and a tiled bar. The Homestead, recently renovated, adds a lounge and dining room with its own garden terrace.
Capacities range from 80 guests at Acacia up to 1,000 at the Pavilion once a tent is added. Each venue keeps a private kitchen, wash-up area and washrooms, run separately from the guest rooms.
