Wilderness Chitabe – Birding

Chitabe sits within a recognised Important Birding and Biodiversity Area, and its bird list shifts with the seasons and water levels. Guides track species such as African hawk-eagle, ground hornbill, gabar goshawk, red-billed hornbill, red-billed francolin and scarlet-chested sunbird across the surrounding floodplains and woodland. The mix of habitats, wet and dry, open and dense, is what keeps the checklist long. Outings are led by camp guides familiar with local calls and nesting spots.
