Wilderness Shumba – Birding

Shumba sits on Kafue National Park's Busanga Plains, a floodplain habitat that supports a long list of bird species, among them the localised Fülleborn's longclaw, found only in a handful of southern African wetlands. Guides lead birders out across the open grassland and along the water's edge, where rollers, bee-eaters and kingfishers move between perches and herons and storks gather in mixed groups. The outing runs as a dedicated, guide-led activity rather than a general game drive, suited to those tracking specific sightings. Back at the lodge, a verandah and lounge area give guests a place to compare notes and log the day's list.
