Birding

Xigera sits on the fringes of Moremi Game Reserve, where the Okavango Delta's channels and floodplains support more than five hundred recorded bird species. Birding here happens on walking safaris, giving enthusiasts a close, ground-level view of species ranging from the Coppery-tailed Coucal and Western-banded Snake Eagle to the Wattled Crane and Lesser Jacana. The location is noted for turning up the Pel's Fishing Owl, a bird sought after by serious birders and rarely seen elsewhere. Guides lead the walks, pointing out calls and movement in the reeds and woodland that surround the camp.
