The Baobab Treehouse (Surcharge)

Built one kilometre from the lodge in the sculptural shape of a baobab tree, this steel structure rises ten metres above the floodplains, with a guide stationed nearby. A winding staircase climbs almost four metres through the trunk to a bathroom on the first level and a bedroom on the second, both fitted with carved timber furniture and canvas walls that open to the surroundings or zip shut for privacy. The top level is an open-air deck with a king-size bed, for lounging by day and watching stars by night. It cannot be pre-booked, and carries a surcharge.
