Zebra River Camp

Along the Talek River, on the border of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Royal Zebra River Camp looks out over open plains where lion, elephant, buffalo, and hippo move within sight of the suites. A resident leopard named Saba is often seen along this stretch of river, and during migration season wildebeest and zebra herds cross the grassland below camp. The lodge holds just eight suites, five facing the savannah and three set among croton bushes, each glass-fronted with a private balcony, a separate lounge, and a minibar. Suites measure 124 m². Guests on the game package get a private 4x4 and a KPSGA-certified guide, so drives run on no fixed schedule and can linger at a sighting as long as the light holds. Meals are built around personal preference rather than a set menu, with bush breakfasts, dinners under the stars, and in-suite dining arranged through a private butler. A pool above the plains gives a place to cool off through the heat of the day, and evenings gather around a campfire after the day's drive. Walking safaris run in the cooler hours with a ranger alongside the guide. Check-in is at noon. The river below draws game down to drink through the afternoon, which makes the camp's own frontage one of its better vantage points.
