Zhiwa Ling Heritage Paro Bhutan

Carved by hand over years of work, Zhiwaling Heritage was built entirely by Bhutanese artisans on 12 acres in the Paro Valley. The timber beams are hand-cut, the ceilings hand-painted, and the temple inside the property uses timbers 450 years old. It remains wholly Bhutanese owned and staffed, a rare claim for a hotel of this scale in Paro. Rooms sit across eight cottages linked to the main building by a garden path, each with a private balcony and underfloor heating fitted the Swedish way beneath the traditional joinery. The Blue Poppy and Takin suites run to 157 square metres, with separate living rooms facing the valley and mountains beyond. The Royal Raven Suite adds two bedrooms and a private shrine room, named in part for the Raven Crown of Bhutan. Guests can join a butter-tea ceremony at the tea house, using a wooden churner in the old way, or take an archery lesson on the lawn. Yoga classes run from the Samden Meditation House, facing Paro Taktsang, known as Tiger's Nest, across the valley. The temple hosts real ceremonies, including the Lhab Sang ritual for new beginnings. There is an indoor heated pool, a fitness centre, and a spa where each treatment room is dedicated to an aspect of the goddess Tara. It is a short drive from the Tiger's Nest trailhead.
