African Bush Camps Khwai Leadwood

Khwai Leadwood sits on the bank of the Khwai River inside the Khwai Community Concession, where the river forms the boundary between the concession and Moremi Game Reserve. The camp holds seven tented suites: five standard luxury suites, one honeymoon suite, and one family suite with interconnecting bedrooms. Each suite has a private viewing deck, king-size bed, mosquito netting, indoor and outdoor showers, and a stocked minibar. Elephant and hippo move along and through the river in front of the camp regularly.

Activities run morning and evening. Outings go out in open four-wheel-drive vehicles, by daylight and after dark, when many animals grow most active. Guided walks take you into Moremi on foot. Canoe trips use traditional dugout mokoro, poled by local guides through the shallow waterways of the Khwai River — a practical way to move quietly through water-level birdlife. The area holds species including the African fish eagle and Pel's fishing owl.

The camp runs the Ngwana Club for children, named from the Setswana word for explorer. Activities include nature walks, cooking classes, traditional storytelling, and arts and crafts, adjusted by age and interest. Cultural visits to nearby communities are also available.

Shared facilities include a pool with river views, a lounge, dining area, reading nook, and a firepit used in the evenings. The camp operates within the Khwai Community Concession, which borders the southern edge of the Okavango Delta.
