Amanwella

Amanwella occupies a mature coconut grove set against a crescent-shaped beach near Tangalle, on Sri Lanka's south coast. The thirty suites step up a landscaped rise connected by garden pathways, and most face the beach, the grove, the garden, or the ocean. Each suite has a private plunge pool, a terrace, outdoor furniture, a minibar, and Wi-Fi; spa treatments can be arranged inside the suite itself.

The main restaurant operates all day. It opens onto an internal courtyard of grass and frangipani trees, with reflecting pools along the edges. The kitchen works across Asian and Mediterranean menus with a focus on local seafood. The lounge and bar sits alongside and serves drinks, snacks, and cigars. The pool terrace handles lighter eating through the day — fresh coconuts, local fruit, simple plates — and shifts to antipasti and home-style dishes on daybeds in the evening.

Tangalle town is a short walk from the property, and the roads through the surrounding village pass through Sri Lanka's coastal vegetation. Activities at the resort include yoga and swimming; a nearby Buddhist centre and a local temple offer meditation sessions with a monk.

The beach is reached directly from the resort.
