Amboseli Sopa Lodge

Amboseli Sopa Lodge sits on two hundred acres of wooded land at the edge of Amboseli National Park, in the foothills below Mount Kilimanjaro. The mountain, at close to six thousand metres the highest point in Africa, is visible from the property and from the private verandah of each room. The eighty-three rooms are built as individual huts, spacious, with en-suite bathrooms. Furnishings use local materials and colours. Twenty-four rooms can be configured as triples, several have interconnecting doors for families, two are accessible for guests with mobility needs, and one is a honeymoon suite with an ornamental fireplace and kitchenette.

The park itself is a twenty-minute drive away and holds over six hundred recorded bird species alongside elephant, lion, and the other large mammals the ecosystem supports. Game drives go into the park; nature walks and bird walks run from the lodge grounds, where monkeys and birds move through the mature garden trees. Outdoor bush breakfasts, lunches, and dinners can be arranged in the park or on the property.

The lodge also holds two conference rooms, the larger seating up to one hundred and ten people in theatre configuration. There is a swimming pool, restaurant, bar, and gift shop. Wi-Fi is available in public areas.

From Nairobi, the lodge is two hundred and fifty kilometres by road — roughly a four-hour drive — or a thirty-minute flight from Wilson Airport to Amboseli airstrip, followed by a one-hour transfer.
