Amskou Camp

Set at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga, Amskou Camp faces open sand on one side and the small town of Hassilabied on the other. The land here is quiet, the horizon unbroken but for dune ridges that shift colour through the day. Tents are built in Moroccan style, with air conditioning, private bathrooms, sofas, dining tables and patios; a Twin tent and a King Bed tent each run to 40 m². Meals are taken in an on-site restaurant tent, with Moroccan cuisine served for dinner and breakfast. In the evening, guests gather for music around a fire under open sky. The camp was founded in 2019 by Ali, who grew up in a nomadic family near Rissani and has worked as a guide for more than 20 years; he named the camp after an old Berber word meaning a beautiful, welcoming place. From camp, guides lead camel treks out to the dunes for sunset, along with 4x4 tours, quad and buggy rides, and sandboarding down the slopes of Erg Chebbi. You can also join a town visit to meet local residents, or head out toward Khamlia to hear Gnawa music. Wi-Fi is complimentary, and the front desk runs around the clock. It is a small, working desert stay, not a resort.
