andBeyond Bateleur Camp

Bateleur Camp sits among trees where forest meets the Masai Mara National Reserve, split into two separate camps of nine tents each — eighteen in total. The scale is deliberate: two groups of nine keep the camp quiet and the game drives uncrowded.

Each luxury tent has polished wooden floors, an en-suite bathroom with an indoor stone shower, an outdoor shower, and a copper bathtub. A private deck looks out over the plains. A butler is assigned to each tent, and the fridge is stocked with drinks of your choosing. Two tents can be joined by an interior corridor to form a family unit, sleeping two adults and up to three children.

Game drives go out in open four-wheel-drive vehicles with trained guides. The camp also has access to a private concession bordering the reserve — the only area in the Mara where night drives are permitted, so you can follow predators after dark in a way that is not possible inside the reserve itself. Guided walks of around two hours explore riverine forest and open ground. Balloon flights over the Mara, with a champagne breakfast on the plains after landing, are available at an additional cost, as are Maasai village visits and massages.

Food is served either at the dining area or outside under the open sky. There are two pools across the two camps.
