andBeyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge
Part of Phasec create
No other permanent lodge operates inside Lake Manyara National Park. This one sits in a mahogany forest, with nine suites raised on stilts above the forest floor and built from timber and makuti palm. Large windows open directly onto the canopy, and each suite has a generous deck, overhead fans, mosquito nets, a freestanding bath, and an outdoor shower. A family suite holds two ensuite rooms and accommodates up to two adults and two children.
The central kitchen is open to guests, and meals are served in the boma or on open dining decks among the trees.
Game drives run twice daily, with sunrise and sundowner stops. Guides can adjust a drive toward particular wildlife or bird species, and they introduce the park's distinct habitats along the way. Lake Manyara is among the few places in Tanzania where evening drives are permitted inside the park; guests staying two or more nights receive a complimentary night drive or a guided bicycle ride. Guided walks through the forest around the lodge find birds, butterflies, and small creatures that a vehicle would pass without stopping. A treetop canopy walkway, a star sleepout after a night drive, and a community bike ride through Mayoka village are available at an extra cost.
The lodge partners with Africa Foundation on community and conservation work, and a visit to local project sites is included in the stay.
