Pangolin Conservation Experience (additional cost)

This is hands-on conservation work, not sightseeing. Temminck's ground pangolins were locally extinct at Phinda until a reintroduction programme brought them back, and guests join the researcher tasked with keeping tabs on them. Using VHF and GSM/UHF signals, the team finds an individual animal, checks its condition, and pulls data from its tracking tag while guests watch at close range. It runs as a privately guided outing, booked separately from accommodation costs. Participants must be sixteen or older, numbers depend on availability, and groups under six people are given their own vehicle. Few visitors ever see a pangolin at all, let alone assist in monitoring one.
