Elephant Conservation Experience (additional cost)
Guests join a working veterinary operation on Phinda Private Game Reserve, where four elephant radio collars are due for replacement as part of the reserve's long-running research programme. Groups are capped at eight people, run across four separate outings, so numbers stay small and the view unobstructed. You watch the sedation from a safe distance, then move in close while the vet and helicopter pilot swap the collar on the sleeping animal. Participants must be twelve or older, and the outing depends on the vet and pilot both being available. Fewer than six guests means booking a private vehicle. A stay of at least three nights is required, giving the team better odds of finding elephants to dart.
