Turtle Nesting Adventure (additional cost)

Between November and February, leatherback and loggerhead turtles come ashore at Sodwana Bay to lay their eggs, and this activity follows them by night. Guides drive along the empty coastline searching for fresh tracks left by females emerging from the Indian Ocean. Once a turtle is found, the group watches from a distance as she digs her nest and lays a clutch that can number up to one hundred eggs before returning to the sea. The drive takes place under moonlight along deserted sand, timed to the animals' seasonal nesting pattern rather than a fixed schedule.
