andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas Kogatende area
andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas is a mobile tented camp that moves through Tanzania's Serengeti National Park across the year, repositioning to stay close to the Great Migration as the herds move between grazing grounds. The Kogatende area camp sits in the northern Serengeti in the Mara Region, placing guests near the Mara River crossings where wildebeest and zebra cross in large numbers during the migration.
The camp holds eight tents, keeping the group small and the site quiet. Each tent has a double bed, an en-suite bathroom, a separate toilet, and al fresco bucket showers — hot water carried to you rather than piped. After a recent expansion, each tent gained two metres in length and now includes an indoor sitting area, so there is a defined space to read or rest between drives. Furnishings run to Indian rugs, linen, crystal and polished brass — durable, portable pieces that pack and unpack cleanly as the camp moves.
Being mobile, the camp has no fixed address in the conventional sense. The site shifts with the season and the herds, and guests are directed to the current location at the time of travel.
