Angama Amboseli

Angama Amboseli is a lodge of ten suites inside the 5,700-acre Kimana wildlife area in Kajiado County, set within a Fever Tree forest and positioned to face Mount Kilimanjaro. Every guest area — the suites, the pool, the dining space — has been laid out around that view.

The lodge sits on a perennial stream that draws a high density of wildlife into the surrounding land: eland, reedbuck, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and warthog move through in large numbers. This is also one of the few remaining places where Super Tusker elephants — animals whose tusks grow long enough to brush the ground — can still be encountered on a game drive. Guided walking safaris through Kimana are led by an expert guide and an Askari, tracking animal pathways, reading flora, and observing smaller species close to the ground.

Amboseli National Park lies forty-five minutes away by road. Guests go for half- or full-day excursions to watch elephant herds cross the salt pans below Kilimanjaro. Day trips to Tsavo West are also available, taking in the Shetani lava flows and Mzima Springs. Hot-air balloon flights over the Amboseli plains run at additional cost.

The ten suites include two sets of interconnected family suites, each sleeping up to two adults and four children. Each suite has floor-to-ceiling screened doors opening onto a private deck. The pool has a drinking trough below it, built for the resident elephant herds. A Weaving Studio run by Maasai Mamas, a photographic studio with camera rental, and a games room complete the facilities on the main site.
