Antigua Casona San Blas

Antigua Casona San Blas is a 49-room hotel in Cusco's San Blas neighbourhood, four kilometres from Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport. The building stands between 1750 and 1800; restoration under the Ministerio de Cultura finished in June 2016. Hand-carved wrap-around balconies replicate the original design; salvaged roof tiles and original adobes form walls finished with mud, straw, and cactus. Four room categories occupy the restored casona and a newer wing. Traditional Rooms hold king or twin beds, 32-inch flat-screen, and terra-cotta brick floors. Superior Rooms add 43-inch screens and heated towel rails. Suites carry two radiators, hardwood floors, and separate lounge areas. Three Xapiri Ground Art Suites display indigenous art and artefacts selected by Xapiri Ground, a non-profit supporting Amazonian communities. All en-suite bathrooms include quality fixtures; in-room heating and soundproofing are standard.

Piedra & Sal restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Coffee comes from Café Orígenes, which works directly with farmers. The spa includes a steam bath, jacuzzi, salt rubs from a local quarry, Spanish-style shower, and massage. A mild hyperbaric chamber aids altitude acclimatisation in 40-minute sessions. Exhala Yoga runs daily drop-in vinyasa, hatha, yin, and yoga nidra classes in a heated studio with Amazonian hardwood floors. Carbon offsetting through Regenera operates at a two-to-one ratio; one tree is planted per guest through Valle Sagrado Verde. Filtered water in glass pitchers replaces bottled water. Solar panels heat kitchen and laundry water.
