Horseback Safari

Bagatelle keeps a mixed string of quarter horses, chosen for temperament so children, first-timers and seasoned riders can all take part. A guide leads the group out across the reserve's dunes, where the only sounds come from wind and hooves. Riding puts you at a different height and pace than a vehicle, so oryx, kudu and other grazing animals often come into view before they notice you. The ride pauses on a dune crest for a drink served in a hollowed ostrich egg shell, then heads back to the ranch as the light softens.
