Barefoot Safari Lodge

Founded in 2019 by Rudolf Badenhorst, a nature-conservation graduate and former ranger who guided across Southern Africa for a decade, Barefoot Lodge and Safaris operates from a six-and-a-half-hectare property on the M12 road ten kilometres west of Lilongwe. Five en-suite chalets accommodate two to three guests. Each chalet has tea and coffee facilities, a private patio, and parking. Two self-catering houses stand separately. Campsites sit beneath mature trees with electrical hook-ups and ablutions. Two overlander sites serve larger vehicles. A backpackers house holds separate dorms for men and women, plus a communal lounge and outdoor braai area. The lodge arranges privately guided 4×4 safaris and self-drive expeditions with professional guides. Itineraries span Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, and Tanzania. Excursions to Lake Malawi take two hours by road. The on-site restaurant serves an à la carte menu seven days a week; the bar stocks local beer and wine.
