Belmond La Residence d'Angkor

The hotel sits on the Siem Reap River in the Wat Bo area, ten minutes by road from the Angkor Wat temple complex. Its fifty-nine rooms and suites are arranged around tropical gardens and a swimming pool.

Deluxe rooms are furnished in cotton and silk, each opening onto its own terrace — a practical place to sit after a full day at the temples. Bathrooms are fitted with freeform terrazzo bathtubs and double wash basins. Poolside and garden-side rooms occupy the quieter parts of the property; the garden-side category opens directly onto the grounds. Suites add a separate lounge, an oversized freestanding bathtub, a walk-in shower with rain head, double vanity, and a private external terrace suited to eating outdoors. Several room categories can be connected, which works well for families.

The main restaurant, Circle, serves either in a dining room or outside among the gardens. Ember runs as a poolside café through the day — homemade cakes, pastries, and light lunches — then shifts to a grill format in the evening, with meat and seafood cooked over a barbecue. The Martini Lounge is an indoor-outdoor bar with the gardens on one side and the Siem Reap River on the other; it carries an extensive martini list and international wine flights.

Tonlé Sap Lake is reachable from the hotel as a day excursion.
