Chisa Busanga Camp

Chisa Busanga Camp sits on the Busanga Plains inside Kafue National Park, about three kilometres from Hook Bridge. The camp holds four rooms — called Nests — each built on a steel frame four metres off the ground among terminalia trees. Steel frames were fabricated off-site and brought to the plains, then local artisans wove fallen twigs, vines and sticks around each frame, threading electrical wiring and water pipes through the weave so that nothing man-made is visible from outside. The design takes its form from weaver bird nests found throughout the surrounding woodland. One Nest includes a small metal lift for guests with limited mobility.

Inside each Nest, the queen-sized bed, indoor-outdoor shower, and seating are arranged around a wide circular opening that faces out over the plains. Chandeliers made from strings of seeds, crafted in Malawi, hang from each ceiling.

The camp runs entirely on solar power. Game drives use electric vehicles recharged by the same solar system, so drives run in near silence — practical on a plain where elephants and lions move through the camp area. Walking safaris go out with a guide and armed scout, with a maximum of six people per walk and a minimum age of fourteen. E-mountain bikes are also available. The Busanga Plains support four hundred and seventy bird species, among them the saddle-billed stork, wattled crane, and Pel's fishing owl.

A pool, bar, communal dining area, and complimentary laundry are available on site.
