Chobe Elephant Camp

Chobe Elephant Camp sits on a rocky ridge in Muchenje, looking out over the Chobe River floodplains and across to Chobe National Park in Botswana. The elevation gives every chalet an unobstructed view over the water and the ground below.

The camp holds eighteen chalets in two categories. Fourteen are standard chalets; two are family units, each with two twin or double rooms. Twelve of the eighteen are built from sandbags packed with red Kalahari sand — the dominant material of northern Botswana — giving the walls their colour and mass. Each chalet has its own veranda, polished floors, exposed wooden beams, and weathered furniture. Bathrooms are private, with both a shower cubicle inside the room and a separate shower open to the sky outside. The main building is open-plan, with a bar, a reading corner, and a pool.

Game drives run morning and afternoon in open safari vehicles. On the river, you can go out by canoe along the floodplain or by motorboat on the Chobe itself — both cover territory where elephant, hippo, and large concentrations of waterbirds are regularly sighted. Cultural tours to a nearby village are also available.

The camp is reached by road from Kasane, Savuti, or Caprivi, or by air through Kasane, Victoria Falls, or Livingstone airports, with a complimentary airport shuttle included.
