Chubeka Trails
Scroll
Crossing the river and threading through forest, the plains rides at Chubeka Trails cover open southern ground on Mlilwane's flat terrain before climbing toward higher country. It is the trail-riding arm of Big Game Parks. Two mountain routes, the Rock of Execution and the Cave Trail, gain real elevation and open onto wide views. A separate set of rides at a nearby bushveld reserve turns up giraffe sightings and, most days, a bit of cattle work, as riders help muster the resident Nguni herd. Horses come in a range of breeds and sizes, matched to rider ability and weight. Beginners ride alongside experienced riders on the same outings. There are weight limits: 95kg on the plains, 85kg on mountain routes and multi-night trips. Rides run by the hour, so a short plains loop and a longer mountain crossing both fit into a single stay. The pace suits families as much as confident riders looking for terrain with some climb to it. Between the plains, the river crossing, the forest and the mountain trails, the operation covers most of what Eswatini's landscape offers on horseback, without needing more than a saddle and a morning.
