Desert Hills Lodge

Desert Hills Lodge sits in the Naukluft mountains six kilometres east of the C19 turnoff at Sesriem, with an open view across the Namib Desert. The lodge is nineteen kilometres from the Sesriem gate, the entry point for Sossusvlei and the surrounding dunes, so an early morning departure reaches the gate without a long drive.

The lodge has twenty twin en-suite chalets, all thatched and air-conditioned, each with a verandah, shower, and tea and coffee facilities. They are spaced to give each guest privacy — you do not hear your neighbours through the walls or look into their outdoor space. The layout is designed around that separation.

Shared facilities include a restaurant, a fully licensed bar, a wine cellar, a deck pool, an outdoor barbecue area, and a fire pit. In the evening the elevation and the distance from any settlement make the sky dark enough for serious star gazing — this is listed among the lodge's own reasons to be here, and the Namib sky at this latitude earns it.

On-site activities include self-guided walks and bird watching. Off-site, guided walks, quad biking, and cycling are available from the lodge. The property takes credit cards and has complimentary internet access. Staff speak English and Afrikaans.
