Dragons Landing Guest Farm and Horse Trails

Underberg, South Africa
Scroll
Set on 40 hectares at Bushmans Nek, near Underberg, Dragons Landing runs entirely off the grid on solar power. The farm faces the Southern Drakensberg, with uninterrupted views over the surrounding foothills. It is a working base for riding, not a manicured retreat, and the accommodation keeps to that register: plain, comfortable, rustic. Three units make up the property. Guest House Room 1 and Room 2 each split into two rooms, with twin or king beds, en-suite bathrooms, down duvets and tea and coffee facilities. The Cottage looks over a small lake and has parquet floors, two bedrooms, two bathrooms with a bath and shower, a kitchen with a microwave, fridge and oven, and separate seating and dining areas. There is no mains power here. Days run on horse trails through the foothills, with the mountains providing a fixed backdrop rather than a backdrop that changes with the season. You can hear very little beyond wind and hooves at Dragons Landing, which is the point of the place. Distances to town are short, but the setting feels well away from any city light. It suits riders and walkers over anyone wanting polish, and the farm makes no claim otherwise.
