Ekorian’s Mugie Camp

Ekorian's Mugie Camp sits inside Mugie Conservancy on the open plains of Laikipia County, a malaria-free stretch of northern Kenya that holds lion, elephant, and a recorded bird count of over two hundred species. The camp runs six tents in total: four regular tents, each configurable as twin or double, and two family tents. All six sit on raised wooden decks with en-suite bathrooms, hot running water, and flush toilets. Laundry is done daily by hand and dried in the sun. A pool, bar, and communal dining area serve the whole camp.

The activity list here is longer than most conservancy camps. Game drives run in open vehicles on a private conservancy, so you can stand in the car while scanning for lion. Night drives are also offered. On the water, kayaking on the Mugie dam is a regular option — game comes to drink during the heat of the day, and the dam draws increasing numbers of waterbirds. Camel walks cross the conservancy and can connect to a bush breakfast under an acacia. The conservancy keeps two bloodhounds trained for scent-tracking, and guests can walk with them to watch the animals work.

Mugie Ranch also runs Kenya's northernmost golf course, set among African olive trees and fenced from wildlife. Visits to nearby Samburu and Pokot communities, local markets, the ranch school, and a mobile health clinic are all available for guests who want to understand what runs alongside the conservation work.

The camp speaks English and Swahili, takes credit cards, and offers a private vehicle on request.
