Photo Mashatu

Photo Mashatu is built around a sunken, underground hide set at a busy waterhole, positioning photographers at ground level, sometimes as close as two metres from elephants that gather there in numbers. Antelope, birdlife and occasional predators pass through the same sessions. A dedicated photographic vehicle supports the experience, fitted with gimbal arms, soft boxes for equipment, and a lowered floor for eye-level shots. Guides with over eleven years' experience in the Mashatu reserve provide photographic support throughout. Non-photographers are welcome too, since the hide's appeal lies simply in watching animals approach at close range.
