Fairmont Château Laurier is a large limestone hotel with turrets and stone masonry built in the style of a French château, standing beside the Parliament Buildings in central Ottawa. The building is one of the most recognisable structures in the city, and rooms on the Parliament side look directly across to the Hill.

The hotel holds a range of rooms and suites, all with air-conditioning, tea and coffee facilities, and Wi-Fi. Pets are welcome. Several restaurants operate on-site, with in-room dining also available. A bar and an indoor pool sit within the hotel's health club facilities.

The Rideau Canal runs close to the hotel. In summer it offers cycling and inline skating paths along its banks; in winter the canal surface becomes a long public skating rink that stretches into the city. The Gatineau Hills, across the river, have hiking, biking and canoeing in summer, and cross-country and downhill skiing in winter.

Ottawa's main annual events — including Winterlude in February and a tulip festival in May — both take place near the hotel, and the Parliament Buildings are a short walk away.
