Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu

Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu stands on high ground above the St. Lawrence River in La Malbaie, in Quebec's Charlevoix region. The building dates from the late nineteenth century and was constructed in château style; from its terrace and many of its four hundred and five rooms, you look out over the river and the mountains that frame it.

The hotel is ninety minutes by road from Quebec City, which makes it a practical base for a longer stay in the region as well as a destination in its own right. Rooms range from standard king and queen rooms — each with a Nespresso machine, mini-bar, and 42-inch television — up to two-bedroom suites with Jacuzzis and river views.

On the water, the hotel arranges boat excursions on the St. Lawrence for whale watching. On land, there is a golf course, downhill and cross-country skiing in winter, and tennis. A spa and indoor swimming pool are on site. The Casino de Charlevoix is nearby. The hotel holds an eco-certification; its indoor parking includes electric vehicle charging stations connected to a provincial charging network.
