Feline Fields Lodge

Arrival at Feline Fields Lodge means choosing how to move through the Kalahari before you have even unpacked. Every suite comes with a fat bike built for the soft desert sand, and guests are free to ride out alone or with a guide who can point out endemic plants and animals along the way. The lodge holds just eight rooms in total: three Bush Suites raised more than a metre off the ground on wooden decks, three two-storey Pool Suites built for wide views over the savannah, and a two-bedroom Family Villa with its own private pool. Horses here are chosen for calm temperaments, and rides range from an hour to a full day, with stops for a bush breakfast or sundowners. There is a tennis court for guests who want a different kind of morning. In the evenings, local San guides lead sessions around the firepit, working through an interpreter to share knowledge of hunting, tracking and plant use built up over generations in this desert. Game drives cover elephant and desert-adapted species such as gemsbok, along with ostriches and secretary birds; the area rewards patience rather than sheer numbers. A masseuse works with Africology oils on private decks. Check-in and check-out both run at noon.
