Fish River Lodge stands on the western rim of Fish River Canyon, inside a forty-five-thousand-hectare nature park in southern Namibia. The canyon runs ninety kilometres long, reaches five hundred and forty-nine metres deep, and stretches twenty-eight kilometres wide at its broadest point. The lodge is the only one positioned directly on this rim, and the drop is right outside the chalet door.

Nineteen chalets — double, twin, and family configurations — are each thirty-six square metres, built from stone with large windows oriented toward the canyon. Each has an indoor shower, double basins, a fan, a verandah, and an outdoor shower for warm nights. A rim pool sits at the lodge's edge.

The restaurant serves buffet breakfasts, lunches, and three-course dinners on handcrafted tables made from reclaimed wood. In winter, two fires run indoors; in summer, the deck takes over. Dietary requirements can be accommodated if flagged at booking.

Activities run from the lodge into and along the canyon: guided full-day and half-day hikes descend via Jelly Legs Gorge to permanent rock pools in the river; a full-day vehicle drive is the only motorised access route to the canyon floor; guided and self-guided rim walks follow the edge; fat-tyre e-bikes cover a twenty-two-kilometre guided loop along the rim; and a sundowner drive stops at plateau viewpoints in the late afternoon. Zebra, kudu, oryx, and springbok move through the park.

Access is via the D463 gravel road. The final nineteen kilometres to the lodge require a vehicle with good ground clearance, and road conditions between November and April can be affected by rain. The nearest fuel is roughly one hundred and fifty kilometres away.
