Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle

The camp stands at the Golden Triangle, the point in far northern Thailand where three countries — Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar — converge. It is built for short, structured stays — three or four nights — during which most of what you do happens outdoors.

The central activity is the elephant programme: you trek with elephants through jungle and along mountain trails, spending time with the animals rather than watching them from a distance. Rangers lead jungle walks, and longtail boats take you out on river excursions through the surrounding landscape. A bamboo spa handles the quieter hours.

The tents are furnished with locally crafted pieces that draw on Lanna traditions — the decorative and craft culture of northern Thailand. Each tent has an outdoor rain shower. Nong Yao Restaurant serves Thai and international food; Burma Bar sits above it, with views across the rivers and the hills where the three countries meet.

Cooking classes and visits to the nearby Hall of Opium museum round out the programme. Chiang Rai, with its ancient temples, is the nearest city of scale. The camp is in Tambon Wiang, Chang Wat Chiang Rai province.
