Gamboa Rainforest Reserve

Gamboa Rainforest Reserve stands on the banks of the Chagres River where it meets Lake Gatún and the Culebra Cut at the edge of Soberanía National Park, 25 kilometres from Panama City. The design draws from the former Hotel Tivoli, which opened in 1907 at the foot of Ancón Hill during Panama Canal construction. Standard Garden View rooms face planted gardens without balconies. Deluxe River View rooms add private balconies overlooking the Chagres River and rainforest canopy. The one-bedroom Suite spans 95 square metres with a king bed, separate living room, and private balcony above the river. Each room includes air conditioning, a 40-inch LCD television, mini fridge, coffeemaker, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The property sits at the point where a single road ends, bordered by undisturbed forest tracts within the park's 55,000-acre lowland tropical ecosystem. Pipeline Road — a trail following an old pipeline route — begins within walking distance and is regarded as one of Central America's premier birding sites. The aerial tram lifts through forest canopy layers. Night safaris run on the Chagres River. Freshwater fishing expeditions depart from the property's riverfront. The outdoor pool overlooks planted grounds where resident caimans, crocodiles, iguanas, and several hundred bird species live. A sensory spa occupies a standalone pavilion. On-site restaurants serve meals with views toward the river; room service operates throughout the day.
