Set on an eleven-thousand-hectare reserve along South Africa's Garden Route, Gondwana Private Game Reserve lies four hours from Cape Town International Airport. The malaria-free reserve runs guided game drives tracking lion, elephant, rhino, cheetah, and buffalo across fynbos-covered hills and open grassland. Thirty-nine suites and villas are spread across two lodge sites—Kwena and Lehele—and two private houses.

Kwena Lodge holds 14 suites, ten standard and four luxury, each with mountain views over two waterholes. Luxury suites add a fireplace and an indoor-outdoor rain shower. The property also offers three- and four-bedroom Kwena villas with open-plan lounges, kitchens, and wraparound decks. Lehele villas—three- and four-bedroom configurations—sit remotely in the landscape; guests drive five to fifteen minutes to the lodge for meals. Ulubisi House and Black Rhino House are privately staffed lodges sleeping six to eight, with dedicated chefs and guides.

Morning and afternoon game drives depart with field guides. The reserve supports Big Five viewing within a Cape fynbos setting, an unusual combination. Guided fynbos walks cross a twelve-hundred-hectare fenced area free of large predators. A Junior Ranger programme runs for families, with activity packs and ranger-led tracking instruction. The spa at Kwena Lodge offers facials, wraps, and massage using Africology products. Meals are served at Kwena Lodge and Lehele Lodge—breakfast on the veranda, three-course dinners indoors, and occasional boma evenings. You can hear game at the waterholes from the suite decks. Laundry, wireless internet, and secure parking are included.
