Gorilla Trekking

The gorillas are wild but habituated over years to the presence of a small number of humans. Guides who have worked on this process from the start lead the trek through dense forest on steep slopes, explaining the etiquette of meeting a silverback at close range. Only eight visitors are permitted per gorilla group each day, and once the group is found, guests spend a maximum of one hour with them. The walk demands reasonable fitness, and children under fifteen cannot take part. A trekking permit must be arranged in advance.
