Hamiltons Tented Safari Camp

The Imbali concession sits in the western Kruger National Park, bordering the northern Sabi Sands and Manyeleti reserves, and it is here, on the banks of the Nwaswitsontso River, that Hamiltons Tented Camp is set. Named for Colonel Stevenson-Hamilton, the park's first warden, the camp holds just six tents, raised on teak decks and linked to the main lodge by timber walkways through stands of old Jackalberry trees. Each tent has a private plunge pool, a slipper bath, and a Sala lounge added onto the deck with leather couches and a mini bar. Guides run two safaris a day in open Land Cruisers across the concession's mixed bushwillow woodland, tracking lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog alongside the Big Five species Kruger is known for supporting. The Hamilton's pride, an old lion group that has struggled to raise cubs in recent years, hunts the waterhole guides call King's Cauldron. A resident hippo often surfaces in the river below the tents. Breakfast and dinner are served on deck overlooking the water, with high tea between drives and a butler assigned to anticipate whatever comes next. Bush walks and massages can be arranged, and self-drive days into the wider park are an option for guests with their own vehicle. Children under eight are not permitted.
