Hemingways Retreat Kigali

Hemingways Retreat Kigali is a boutique hotel built on eco-conscious principles, among the first of its kind in the country. It sits in Kiyovu, a quiet residential neighbourhood close to Kigali's markets, galleries, and memorial sites. The hotel has twenty rooms and suites, each individually styled with handcrafted Rwandan detail alongside modern comforts. It is compact by design. Rooms come with private patios or balconies, outdoor showers, mosquito nets, and organic bathroom amenities; some have direct access to a heated saltwater pool via a private plunge pool of their own. The property runs a spa and wellness studio, and its Fusion Restaurant serves food that pairs global technique with Rwandan ingredients, set beside the pool and rock gardens. A separate lounge offers a fireplace and outdoor deck for evening drinks, and can host small groups for cooking demonstrations and traditional dance under the stars. Guests can walk to cultural landmarks in the surrounding streets or arrange gorilla tracking and other excursions further afield through the hotel's travel desk. Check-in is from 2pm and checkout at 11am. It works equally well as a first stop before travelling into Rwanda's national parks or as a final night of quiet before flying home, with the airport a short transfer away.
