Hlane Royal National Park Ndlovu Camp

Hlane Royal National Park sits in the Lubombo region of Eswatini — not Mozambique, despite some listings — and is the country's largest protected area. Elephant, white rhino, hippo, lion and a wide range of bird species move through the park, and the waterhole at Ndlovu Camp draws them in reliably, particularly elephant and rhino.

The main base is Ndlovu Camp, which holds the reception, restaurant, curio shop and activity centre. Accommodation here runs to twenty-four en-suite twin rondavel huts in Wisteria Village, a short walk from the main camp, plus self-catering cottages for doubles and families. The Big Hut cottage sleeps six across two double bedrooms and a loft with four single beds. A separate group cottage takes four bedrooms and a fully self-catering kitchen. Ndlovu Camp runs on gas and paraffin; there is no mains electricity.

Bhubesi Camp, reached by a separate public road, offers family cottages with electricity, an en-suite bathroom with both shower and bath, a kitchenette and a patio with a braai.

Activities include game drives, guided and self-guided walks, and wildlife tours. The park also has a camping ground with straightforward facilities. Directions to the park are available from multiple entry points, including the Mananga, Nerston and Oshoek border crossings from South Africa.
