Hotel Riu Karamboa

Set on a beachfront stretch of Boa Vista, where dunes and volcanic ground meet the Atlantic, Hotel Riu Karamboa sits inside Cape Verde's dry, sunlit coastline. The island's terrain runs volcanic rock into open beach, with pockets of palm breaking the sand line near the property. Opened in 2008 and fully refurbished in 2022, the hotel now operates as an adults-only, all-inclusive resort for guests aged 18 and over. Rooms come with balconies or terraces, air conditioning, minibars and ceiling fans; some open onto sea views, others onto a swim-up pool. Five outdoor pools spread across the grounds, alongside a water park, a spa and gym, and a run of themed restaurants covering local, Italian and Asian menus. You can hear music from the RIU Party events most evenings, part of a daily entertainment programme that runs from daytime shows into the night. The hotel generates its own renewable energy and holds an Ecostars sustainability certification. Sun loungers and parasols line the beach at no extra cost, with towel service at the pools. Check-in runs from 3pm, check-out at noon. It sits on Praia de Boca Salina, on the Rabil side of the island, a short distance from central Boa Vista.
