Hotel Velotel

Guests arrive at Hotel Velotel by bike as often as by car, and the hotel is built around that habit. It sits in a quiet, green pocket just outside Bruges' historic centre, with a bus stop at the door running into town every 20 minutes. The 115 rooms were recently renovated and carry a cycling motif through warm colours and wood flooring, from Classic rooms up to the Superior Suite, which adds a king-size bed and a bathroom with both walk-in shower and tub. Two rooms have adapted showers for guests with reduced mobility. Restaurant O'Velo anchors the ground floor, serving three-course dinners and lunches to hotel guests and passing walkers or cyclists alike; in winter, meals are taken by an open fire. A sauna and gym sit just behind reception, free for guests, private by booking during the day and open without reservation from 7pm to 11pm. Bikes can be reserved on site, along with route maps covering the wider region around Bruges. For meetings, the hotel offers two function rooms, Bol d'Or and Vélodrome, seating up to 60 and 85 people. It is a practical, unpretentious base. The centre itself, listed by UNESCO, is close enough to reach on foot or by bicycle in minutes.
