The InterContinental Table Bay occupies Quay 6 on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront — the working harbour edge of Cape Town, where the mountain sits behind the city and the Atlantic opens in front. The hotel has three hundred and six rooms across nine room categories, ranging from classic twin and king rooms to junior suites; the higher categories face Table Mountain directly, some with a balcony.

There are four places to eat and drink. Flint & Fennel on the lobby level runs all-day dining built around seasonal ingredients, and also serves afternoon tea in a conservatory section with Table Mountain views. Le Bistrot de JAN is the more formal proposition: French-led food from Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, who holds a Michelin star, served beside a fromagerie stocked with cheese, cookbooks and preserves. The Botanist's Table is a lounge bar for cocktails, regional gins and small plates. Solandra is the poolside option, with Italian-style stone-baked pizzas and seasonal dishes at the water's edge.

The spa has six treatment rooms, including a private couples suite and a hammam. There is an outdoor pool, a fitness centre, a children's club for ages four to twelve, a conference centre, and secure parking on site. The Waterfront's shops, galleries, boat cruises and the Cape Wheel are directly outside the hotel's doors.
