Jao Camp occupies a remote island inside the private Jao Reserve, where the Okavango Delta spreads into floodplains, palm islands and interconnected waterways. The reserve holds predators, elephant, buffalo and red lechwe across a range of habitats, and what you encounter shifts with the season.

The camp has seven rooms in two categories. Five Jao Suites are elevated on decking, each with an open-plan bedroom, lounge, dressing space and an en-suite bathroom that includes a freestanding bath and both indoor and outdoor showers. Full-height sliding doors open onto a private deck with a plunge pool facing the Delta. The two Jao Villas are larger — each holds two full en-suite suites linked by a shared lounge and dining area, and each villa comes with a dedicated private guide, chef and butler. Families or small groups booking a villa travel and eat on their own schedule.

Activities reflect how the Delta changes through the year. Game drives run year-round; mokoro excursions move through the quieter channels by pole; boating depends on water levels; walking safaris go out on drier ground; and seasonal fishing is available when conditions allow. The camp also has a gym, a spa, and a museum space documenting the ecology and human story of the Delta.

Jao Camp runs entirely on solar power, with battery storage on site.
